While Marco has weakened to a Tropical Storm, Hurricane Laura is barreling toward Texas and Louisiana's shores. The strengthening storm is predicted to make landfall late Wednesday or Thursday at possibly a Category 3 intensity. In anticipation of the storms, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued an emergency declaration for Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. This Emergency Declaration provides regulatory relief for commercial motor vehicle operations, most notably Hours of Service relief, while providing direct assistance supporting emergency relief efforts transporting supplies, goods, equipment, and fuel in affected states. The waiver is effective immediately and through the duration of the emergency or until 11:59 pm on September 23, 2020 Download the linked waiver for further compliance details.
