Annual renewal fees for certified individuals and exempt registrants are due by May 31, 2025. Alternative Fuels Safety (AFS) has mailed renewal notices to licensed companies for all current employees or to the individual’s alternate address if a licensed company does not currently employ them.

Didn’t Receive a Renewal Letter?

If an individual or their company did not receive a renewal letter, you can fill out this document for certifications or this document for exempt registrations and submit it with the online payment receipt to renew the certification.

Before submitting, verify that your employer has not already paid your renewal fee, as payments are non-refundable.

Verify Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Certified individuals should check their continuing education (CE) requirements prior to submission. Your CE due date is listed on your certification card. AFS cannot renew certifications for ineligible individuals.

Fastest Way to Submit: Email Your Documents

For the fastest processing, email the completed document and your online payment receipt to: AFS_Card_Renewal@rrc.texas.gov

Annual Renewal Fees

  • $35: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Propane)

  • $25: Compressed Natural Gas

  • $25: Liquefied Natural Gas

  • $20: Exempt Registrants (M/J Plumbers and ACR Contractors)

A $20 late fee applies if the renewal is not received by May 31, 2025, for each renewal type.

Online Payment Reminder

Renewal payments may be made through the Railroad Commission’s online payment portal.

Important: Paying online does not complete the renewal. After payment, you must email your payment receipt and the completed certification or exempt registration document to: AFS_Card_Renewal@rrc.texas.gov
