As previously reported and anticipated, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) now has officially delayed the Entry Level Driver Training Rule set to go into effect on February 7, 2020 is delayed until February 7, 2022.

The Entry Level Driver Training Rule will create new minimum training standards and required curriculum for those applying for a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Additionally, the training must be done by an individual in the FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR).

The national training provider registry will act as a clearinghouse that CDL drivers have been trained with the required curriculum. The trainers will be required to check off on a list of skills as each is mastered.
